Off Duty / On Style
As a person whose two main loves are music and fashion, Coachella is the ultimate mashup of my dreams. I have not physically attended yet, but I already have $20 saved to go next year (slow progress). I am determined to go next year assuming the lineup is as impressive as it always is! This year, amazing artists such as Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, The 1975, Sia, G-Eazy, Guns N’ Roses, Grimes, A$AP Rocky and many, many more are all playing. As a fan of the majority of the artists, I honestly can’t even imagine the struggle of choosing between stages, but that is a great problem to have. Here is the complete list.
Aside from the incredible music, Coachella is also a hub for embracing boho fashion and it has actually become a huge event for street style in the fashion industry. Frequently spotted themes include fringe, feathers, flowers and suede. The struggle that arises is the balance between trying to stay cool during the day and warm at night while also trying to stay comfortable for an all day event AND look fabulous. I have watched countless YouTube videos for tips of do’s and dont’s. For example, DO opt for shoes that cover your feet instead of sandals. Taking inspiration from these practicalities, the artists playing, past festivals and my own personal style, I have styled three outfits that I would wear to Coachella.
DARK AND DANGEROUS
This is honestly the one I would be most likely to wear. I love the romper for comfort and how it works with the accessories. I instantly fell in love with this bag, the colored tassels add such a unique look! This look has a boho vibe with a deeper edge.
TIE DYE BRIGHT
This outfit may look bold if you are not familiar with Coachella style, but compared to some things that show up, it’s actually pretty mellow. I am loving tie dye right now and this just oozes out summer Cali vibes. Coachella is the perfect time to have fun with color in ways that you usually would not.
I am predicting that off-the-shoulder tops will be huge for Coachella this year. They’re very on trend and also contributing to the relax and ease of festival style. Another item I really love in this outfit is the headband (on the top right), I would tie this loosely around my head to help keep my hair out of my face and add more visual variety.
Consistently throughout all three looks were sunglasses, booties and some form of a bag that can hold a lot of stuff. These are my essentials for Coachella or any music festival really. If you are going to Coachella, please take lots of pictures and make the most of it (and know I’m insanely jealous!) As for me, I will keep planning outfits and banking money for next year!
