Off Duty / On Style
The month of May brought many things, the completion of my junior year of college, the beginning of my summer writing fellowship with The Tab (read my first article here). Now, as you’re reading this post, I am in the process of traveling to the Big Apple! I will be there for 10 weeks so stay tuned for many Manhattan favorites in the future, but in the meantime let’s see what I have been loving lately.
FASHION
I have been loving baseball hats lately. It’s odd because I used to not like the look of hats (especially on me), but this army green one from Urban Outfitters has barely left my head since I got it and I definitely want to buy more colors.
BEAUTY
To those of us who get the free birthday gifts at Sephora, I wonder how many of you fell in love with the Satin Lip Pencil in Rikugien like I did. The rosy pink nude color is moisturizing, lasts a long time and provides a gorgeous finish. I need to purchase the full size.
SKINCARE
The Hesperides Grapefruit bath and shower gel from Fresh is luxurious, moisturizing and quenched with citrus fruits as well as Vitamins C and E. The scent is perfect for spring/summer and it really makes you feel refreshed!
FOOD
As a fan of the Bear Naked granola, I was excited to see this in my final exam care package from my parents. The cinnamon and sunflower butter flavor is amazing in greek yogurt or on its own. Fun fact: Bear Naked lets your create your own custom granola online.
One of my odd addictions is oyster crackers. I eat a lot of soup so these are great for tossing in and the Trader Joe’s brand of crackers really absorbs the soup providing even more flavor.
MUSIC
Gum by Mouse Blood is one of those song that gives me all the feels and I’m not even sure why, it’s just beautiful.
“I live in the jungle, I sleep in a monkey tree.” Monkey Tree (UK Mix) by Mother Mother is the perfect fun song for kicking off your summer!
The Japanese House’s song Pools to Bathe In has layered harmonies and chill vibes, which are two of my biggest weaknesses when listening to music.
One Dance by Drake makes me want to dance every time! How can you not love this one?
Thanks for checking out this month’s favorites! I’ll see you in NY!
xx,
Kelsey Knepler
