Back to School Style Schemes

On Style

It’s that time of year again, some love it and some dread it—back to school! I tend to fall somewhere in between on that spectrum, but this year is the last time that I will be going through the process since I am going to be a senior in college and have no intentions of further schooling. As much as I dislike going to class sometimes, I will miss the rush of excitement that comes with back to school and getting an excuse to pick out a whole new wardrobe. Here are some outfits that I am would love to sport for the first few days of class!

Classic Prep Chic

Maybe it’s the fact that I’m obsessed with shows like Gossip Girl and Gilmore Girls, but part of me always (kind of) wished that I had a school uniform. I love the look of classic and preppy plaid skirts and polo tops. However, a lack of official uniform has not stopped me from wearing these pieces but instead given me the excuse to rock them up a bit. A leather jacket is a great way to do this and then selecting a skirt with a shorter hem. Pair this with some knee-high socks and reveal a tasteful amount of skin.

In the Nudes

I am currently obsessed with neutral colors such as dusty pinks, taupes and, of course, black. Mixing shades of nudes and neutral colors usually creates a more sophisticated look than bold colors. I love longline jackets like this right now. The combination of height, skinny jeans and high heels will help add height and create a slimmer appearance. This is also a great day to night outfit.

Street Sleek

This outfit feels very Brandy Melville-inspired to me. Mostly because of the graphic jacket, which they have been selling a lot of and has a very California feel. If you want to show off the back of a jacket like this but still want more room, a bucket bag is a great option. Top it off with some classic sneakers and a leather baseball cap and you cannot go wrong. This is the perfect Friday night chill outfit. These wrap bolo tie chokers are all the rage right now, pick one up immediately.

Young and Old

This may be my favorite outfit since it’s very fitting with my current style. Turtlenecks are amazing where I’m from because it gets so cold here, but that doesn’t mean we have to be completely bundled. Adding a cute overall dress somehow manages to be simultaneously youthful and sophisticated. Burgundy is one of my favorite fall colors so I needed to add some accessories in the shade. The fringe detail on the booties makes it a bit more playful as well.

If you enjoyed the return of the Style Scheme series please let me know in the comments. Good luck with back to school everyone, happy shopping!
