College Fashion Week Recap

On Style

Last Saturday October 15th, I was blessed with the opportunity to attend College Fashion Week in Chicago. After my summer in New York, these past months being separated from city life and the fashion scene have been very painful so this was a much-needed experience! I attended with my Her Campus chapter that I am the co-social media director for. Speaking of, make sure to follow our social media platforms (Instagram and Twitter).

Since I was a VIP for the event, I got to skip ahead of the line to get it and I also received a VIP gift bag! Inside the gift bag was tons of free goodies such as a full-size drybar product, Maidenform hosiery and a free Fitbit Flex 2 and that’s just to name a few items! They also had a bunch of awesome sponsors handing out free product samples at the event such as Boxed Water and KIND bars. Once I found my way to the VIP seat, which was basically ON the runway, I was super excited for the show to start.

The show showcased four different collections. The first collection was a collaboration with Her Campus and My Social Canvas, which had a bunch of looks meant to keep you looking cute yet comfortable for class! I am a huge supporter of “dress well, test well” so this was a great way to show alternatives to sweatpants and hoodies.

The second collection was the favorite of the four. It featured brands Show Me Your Mumu and Foray Collective that put together some awesome festival looks. As a music lover, Coachella fanatic and lover of fringe, I was definitely digging this collection. The cheetah romper combined with the choker is so cool!

Ali & Ariel worked with Frill Clothing to put together some adorable outfits inspired by sorority lifestyle. I love the pleated skirt in this look! Plus, that hairdo ties it all together.

Bow & Drape was the last collection featured and their theme was “Girl’s Night Out”. These were great examples of outfits that are fun to wear since they are conversation starters, but they are also super chic! They pieces had a bunch of hilarious embellished captions on their clothes (ex: “I Can’t Adult Today”).

Afterward, there was an afterparty downtown where I got to meet some bloggers such as Coming in Clutch and The Petite Diaries! This was definitely an incredible experience and I am so grateful that I got to attend.
