April Favorites

Off Duty / On Style

As I bid adieu to April, I cannot help but be shocked at how my next favorites post will be up when I am living in New York City. Not sure what I’m talking about? Then check out this post. April actually dragged a bit for me due to how stuffed it was with projects and tasks to accomplish, but nonetheless, these items made my month a bit better.

The ongoing white sneakers trend created a huge confliction for me. I tend to stay away from white shoes due to how easily they get dirty and all of the options I was looking at were fairly expensive, until I stumbled onto these bad boys at H&M. With snakeskin heels and a sleek finish, I fell in love. These are also fairly easy to clean!

This adidas shirt is something that I wish I could wear every day. The adidas brand is killing it right now. I love the colors and comfort of this T-shirt. The best part? I scored it at an outlet mall for only $10.

These H&M Loves Coachella sunglasses are as close as I got to Coachella this year, but they really do add a lot to an outfit. The lenses have a gradient/reflective effect that looks even cooler in person.

Another fashion favorite is the store Brandy Melville. Despite the fact that I only own one piece from there (I did not have it with me to take a picture), still I have been eyeing all of the styles on the site lately. I would love to purchase more but the lack of locations near me and the fact that their clothes are all one size fits all makes me cautious to order online, but I will definitely be shopping there in New York! Their style is very relaxed and casual with an edgy cool twist.

In my February favorites I showed my Fresh Sugar lip treatments (which I am still obsessed with), but I also found a more affordable dupe. At only $12, the Caudalie Lip Conditioner is extremely moisturizing yet lightweight and the smell is also pleasantly fresh.

Clinique’s Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel has made a HUGE difference in my skin. As someone with oily acne prone skin, this stuff really works magic. My first round of this was a gift, but I definitely plan on repurchasing. I have been using this since February and it still has a lot of product in it so a little goes a long way!

A new smoothie, acai and juice bar opened up in Madison called Bowl of Heaven and it is fantastic. I ordered the Red Zinger bowl which is comprised of acai, mango, pineapple, blueberries, raspberries, lime, ginger, coconut water, granola, dark chocolate and honey. It was very filling, ended up being my dinner that night. Find a location near you here.

James Bay grew on me slowly but surely this month! His indie rock sound is infectious. Songs to check out by him include Hold Back the River (his biggest hit), Scars and Craving.

The 1975’s album “I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it” (yes that is the whole title) is incredible. Lostmyhead is a current favorite and their song Somebody Else really captures the pain of what it is like to lose someone. Overall, the whole album tells a cohesive story and it became instantly one of my favorites.

I tend to go through a craze of listening to artists after seeing them live and G-Eazy was no exception (see that post here). Some current favorites of mine include Downtown Love and Everything Will Be OK.

Wraith Pinned to the Mist and Other Games by Of Montreal is a song that is over 10 years and I do not know how I lived without it that long.

This funky instrumental tune has me pumped for summer, Orquestruh by SAFAKASH is unlike anything you have ever heard.

Thanks for checking out my monthly favorites. If you liked it, follow my blog and ‘like it’ on Facebook.
